ROCKET HOCKEY TOUR: A HUGE SUCCESS
THE FIFTH EDITION WAS VIRTUAL AND IT WAS PRESENTED BY DECATHLON IN COLLABORATION WITH ST-ALBERT CHEESE CO-OP AND HOCKEY QUÉBEC
LAVAL (March 22, 2022) – Presented by Decathlon and in collaboration with St-Albert Cheese Co-op, the Rocket are proud of the great success of the fifth edition of the Rocket Hockey Tour. Hockey Québec was also a collaborator of the program. Coaches who have participated in these trainings have the chance to obtain development points (NCCP). This community initiative took place 100% virtually for a second consecutive year and it allowed minor hockey coaches from all over Quebec to sharpen their skills and enrich their knowledge by following the advice of our group of coaches composed of Jean-François Houle (head coach), Marco Marciano (goaltending coach), Kelly Buchberger and Martin Laperrière (assistant coaches).
Participants were able to benefit from four training sessions (three in French and one in English). The themes discussed were leadership and communication, how being a goaltender is more than stopping the first shot, deconstructing zone exits and using tight spaces to develop player’s hockey sense.
More than 600 participants have registered for the Rocket Hockey Tour trainings. The Rocket are very proud to have been able to virtually welcome participants from all over Quebec, from Laval, to Abitibi, to Saguenay and many more.
“The coaching staff and I are very proud to have been part of the Rocket Hockey Tour this year. It was very important for us to share our experiences and knowledge to help coaches become better. We hope that the participants learned a lot from these training sessions and that they will be able to apply the various information learned in their respective teams,” said Jean-François Houle, head coach for the Laval Rocket.
The Laval Rocket are proud to say mission accomplished, as this initiative was intended to strengthen our ties with minor hockey associations across the province and to contribute to the development of young players and coaches in Quebec.
