ALEX BELZILE NAMED LAVAL ROCKET CAPTAIN

He will be the third in Rocket history to hold this role

LAVAL (October 10, 2022) Rocket head coach Jean-François Houle announced on Monday that Alex Belzile has been named the 3rd captain in team history. Assistant captain last season, he succeeds Xavier Ouellet, who wore the C from 2018 to 2022.

Belzile, 31-year-old, joined the Laval Rocket during the 2018-2019 season. He made his American Hockey League debut with the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2012-13. In 288 career AHL games, he scored 68 goals and added 100 assists, for a total of 168 points. Belzile will start his fifth season with the Laval Rocket. The forward has played 143 games with the Rocket in his career, registering 40 goals and 64 assists. In his first season with the Rocket, the native of St-Éloi participated in the AHL Star Classic. Belzile also played 13 games with the Montreal Canadiens in 2020-21 and 2021-22.

The forward played for the Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL, totaling 193 points (59 goals, 134 assists) in 158 games.

Belzile has distinguished itself through his leadership over the years with the Rocket. The forward was named assistant captain upon his arrival with the Rocket in 2018.
