THE ROCKET AGREES TO TERMS ON A ONE-YEAR, TWO-WAY AHL CONTRACT WITH DEFENSEMAN RYAN CULKIN

LAVAL (May 31, 2019) – The Laval Rocket announced today that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way AHL-ECHL contract (2019-20) with Montreal-born defenseman Ryan Culkin.  

Culkin, 25,suited up for 10 regular season games for the Rocket last season, recording one goal and eight penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 201-pound athlete also sported the ECHL’s Maine Mariners colours, posting 22 points (2 goals, 20 assists) in 39 regular season contests. As a professional, he also enjoyed stints with the AHL’s Adirondack Flames and the Stockton Heat. In his AHL career to date, he has recorded 21 points (3 goals, 18 helpers) in 93 games. He has added 14 goals and 68 assists in 141 career-games in the ECHL for the Fort Wayne Komets and the Adirondack Thunder.

Culkin enjoyed a four-year Junior career between 2010-11 and 2013-14 with the Quebec Remparts, along with a brief stint with the Drummondville Voltigeurs in his final season. In 232 regular season games in the QMJHL, Culkin tallied 131 points (25 goals, 106 assists). He added four goals and 25 helpers in 50 playoff contests in the Quebec Junior league. Culkin was selected in the fifth round, 124th overall by the Calgary Flames at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
